Re-nesting a baby crow

A little fledgling crow fell from his nest 60 feet up in a pine tree. Misty and Greg brought him in to Wildwoods and luckily he was unhurt so we decided re-nesting would be the best option. Our good friend Dave agreed to re-nest the baby and climbed the tree with the little one in-tow.

One of the many reasons we love crows? They really stick together! What happens when a large potential predatory creature climbs the nest tree of one of the nesting pairs in an extended family of crows? After the alarm call goes up, all gather ’round to harass and drive away the intruder. Dave wasn’t worried–he’s been dive-bombed by far more intimidating birds–peregrine falcons, eagles, etc.
